What is it all about ?

Since it is the first post on this blog, I will start describing what this blog is about, before actually getting down into taking one of the genres and addressing all those awesome movies which are not popular.

When I say 'not popular', you should understand that the movie is not popular in Indian perspective i.e it is not one of those superhero or James Bond movies, and it is not among those megamarketed movies ( like Avatar, Harry Potter, Spiderman or Pirates of Caribbean where millions of dollars are spent for their marketing in India). Now, this definition of  'not popular' should leave a big room for most of the Hollywood movies. However, I used a word 'awesome' in the title of this blog to filter all those awesome ones among those 'not popular' movies.

What is an 'awesome  movie' ? Is a movie, that is awesome to me, is awesome to you too ? Ofcourse not, but definetely there are 'many' movies which are acceptably awesome to most of us. Say, for instance The Prestige. I should say that I never encountered someone, who disagreed with me on this (If you didnt like that movie, go to hell :P).

This discussion naturally leads to a question -- How come an awesome movie be not marketed in India ? The answer is simple -- we dont understand them. Yes, majority of India can not stand the feeling of thinking in 'Cinema Hall' or in front of Television for that matter. Thats how most of the Indian films turned out to be musicals with absolutely no necessity of using the brains. Not to mention serials on Indian Television.

A movie with a thought provoking story line is an 'awesome movie', because everyone who understands the movie also likes the movie, and we dont try to understand unless we like to understand. But, an awesome movie is not necessarily a thought provoking one, as you can see from all those popular ones.

Summarizing everything, this blog mainly caters for all those 'average' Indians (with knowledge of only the popular ones plus a few more), who are looking for an awesome Hollywood movie, not popular in India. If you happen to be 'above average' (or a poor movie buff like me, who had exhaustively watched all those movies -- both popular and not popular, without paying slightest attention to whether they are awesome or not), then I know that you are having hard time in extracting the poor quality awesome ones from the everlasting heap of Hollywood movies. So, for all those movie buffs too, I have something -- "Where there's a will, there's a way" which translates to "you can always find an awesome movie, irrespective of how many awesome movies you have watched". If you find this saying impractical, do not worry, I will include an esssay on "Methods of Determining an Awesome Movie(ADAM)" in my coming posts. If you happen to be 'below average' (someone with a poor knowledge of Hollywood movies), then you can expect a post on "How to Make a Start in Hollywood ?" coming soon on this blog.

I will end this post by addressing a few awesome 'II world war films'.

Schindler's List : This drama war film is one of those movies centered around Holocaust of Jews, with a true story line. you will need patience to realize the awesomeness of this movie.

The Pianist: This drama war film is too one of those movies centered around Holocaust of Jews in Poland, with a true story line. You will be shocked, when you see the epilogue of the movie.

Defiance : This action war film is too one of those movies centered around Jews, with a true story line, but this time in Russia and you will find them defending themselves with guns!

Valkyrie: Germans trying to kill Hitler ! This action biographical movie stars Tom Cruise.

Enemy at the Gates and Saving Private Ryan are the other awesome movies in this small genre.

Inglorious Bastards is another awesome movie in this genre, but with a fiction element of alternate history. This may be one of the only two movies in this genre with such an element. Watchmen being the other awesome movie, but on III world war !

PS: Readers are requested to post comments, irrespective of their nature.
